2017 was the year of transformation in the lives of many individuals from some inner-city communities across Spanish Town. This was a sponsored initiative by the East St. Catherine Member of Parliament under the National Unattached Youth program/HEART NSTA Trust, for persons who needed a TRN, Birth Certificate, Identification Card and other necessities to be functional in the society. One hundred and twenty persons were enrolled to be trained and certified across the skills in Webpage Design, Commercial Food Preparation and General Construction. Here are Fifty-seven graduates who were represented with their Instructors and Administrative team at the end of a six- month training cycle. Many are gainfully employed today, and are making their contribution to the development of the society.

Commercial Food Preparation/Commis Chef Level 2 prepares the students to work in the hospitality industry i.e. hotels, café, canteens, cook shop and just about anywhere food is prepared. They are exposed to Meal Planning and Preparation, Meal Costing, Health and Safety Procedures, Catering, introduction to Baking and much more. The have gained employment in Hospitals Dietary Department, Hotels, Schools and Fast Food outlets. Some of them manage their own small business.

Webpage Designers are in demand and here is a group of hungry to learn young people who took the training by storm. Most of them are in different fields today, but the impact then has given them a launching pad to advance to higher learning as well as expand their horizon.

Early Childhood Care and Development is one of our most successful skill. We have had 100% passes from seventy-one students between 2023 and 2025. Here is a display of work done by the ECCD and their Instructor Ms. Sharpe. Others represented are students and the Manager of the institution. We have maintained a standard over the years to have every student aligned to a Day Care, Basic School or other Early Childhood institution for hands-on exposure during the six months training cycle. This proves to be very effective as the theory comes alive with each encounter as a practitioner. The employment status of each graduate in this skill is 100%, even before the end of training.

This was the first group of Customer Engagement students including two physically challenged individuals who were trained in 2012. They were trained and certified for jobs in the BPO Sector. This is a booming industry in Jamaica which employs over 60,000 and is projected to increase to 75,000 in another two years. Today, we offer training in Customer Service Supervisor Level 3 in the online modality, where fifty-two participants were certified between 2024-2025.

We acquired a fully equipped computer lab with Twenty-Three computers with networking capabilities, a Printer, a multi-media projector courtesy of Universal Funds in 2012. Today the lab still exists with thirteen functioning units. This is used to facilitate online exams and sessions in Data Operation, which is included in all skill areas.

The Spanish Town SDA Skills Training Centre jointly executed Spanskill/CJC 5K Run/Walk with the Central Jamaica Conference of Seventh-day Adventist on October 17, 2018. It was hosted by GC Foster College and took the runners to the Angels Community and back. The beneficiaries from the proceeds were: St. Spanish Town Infirmary; Alta Vista Children’s Home; Sunbeam Boys Home; Spanish Town SDA STC. It was an exciting and fulfilling event with persons leaving and wanting more!
